(Minato-ku, Tokyo; Shinsuke Sakimoto, representative director and president) announced that the company’s methodology for calculating the avoided environmental impact of resale services, which is used by the company to calculate Resale Impact, has received a critical review*1 from TÜV SÜD Japan. Resale Impact is a metric that quantifies the contribution of luxury brand goods resale in avoiding environmental impact.

What is Resale Impact?

The Valuence Group engages in luxury brand goods resale and systems to ensure the circulation of products that avoids a premature end to useful lives. In this way, every product can be used to its fullest potential. The company defines Resale Impact as a metric to quantify and disclose the environmental value created by luxury brand goods resale across society based on an avoided environmental impact methodology. Valuence began disclosing this metric in 2021.
The company updated the calculation method in April 2026, reflecting progress in guidelines for avoided environmental impact in Japan and internationally. The traditional view of reuse is that purchase reused items replaces the purchase of new. Valuence has taken a view that focuses on the re-circulation of products through luxury brand goods resale and the extension of useful lives, evaluating the effectiveness of reducing the environmental impact associated with new resource extraction and manufacturing.

Critical Review via Third-Party

Valuence recently underwent a critical review by a third-party organization with the aim of improving the transparency and reliability of the methodology used by Valuence to calculate Resale Impact.
Referencing international standard ISO 14044:2006, the third party confirmed that the basic calculation framework of Valuence’s methodology is generally consistent with the principles provided in clauses 4.1–4.4 of ISO 14044:2006.
Based on the results of this review and continuing to reference existing standards and guidance, Valuence intends to implement calculation methods and disclosure practices that are appropriate for the objectives and characteristics of Resale Impact.

FY2026 Resale Impact (September 2025–August 2026)

The following results reflect items resold through ALLU, STAR BUYERS AUCTION, and ALLU AUCTION.
・Avoided GHG emissions: 7,690 t-CO2e
・Avoided water usage: 9,373 m³
The avoided GHG emissions of 7,690 t-CO2e are equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by approximately 870,000 cedar trees in one year*2.

See the Resale Impact section of the Valuence Group’s sustainability website for more information:

By calculating and disclosing Resale Impact, the Valuence Group contributes to an understanding and wider acceptance of the concept and calculation method behind avoided environmental impact, while also communicating the environmental benefits of luxury brand goods resale and encouraging environmentally conscious consumer choices.

*1 A critical review is an evaluation of LCA calculation methodology, disclosure content, and other related matters conducted by an independent expert. Note that a critical review does not guarantee that individual calculation results comply with certain standards.
*2 Calculated on the assumption that one cedar tree absorbs an average of approximately 8.8 kg of carbon dioxide per year.

Valuence Holdings Inc.
