Auction of Items Used in 12th Gold Medal-Winning Work, The Biophilic Garden Otsu – Hanare

The purpose of Circular Design for the Earth and Us, means design for the Earth and for humankind. Under this purpose, Valuence Japan Inc. (Tokyo; Shisuke Sakimoto, representative director and president) aims to encourage more people to focus on what is most important in their lives. Today, Valuence Japan announced a charity auction commemorating the Chelsea Flower Show 2023 Gold Medal-Winning art of Kazuyuki Ishihara. The auction, to be conducted through the HATTRICK (https://auction.hattrick.world/) auction owned and operated by Valuence Japan, is scheduled to begin December 8, 2023.

Proceeds Going to Activities to Protect Flowers, Greenery, and the Future of Our Children

Landscape artist Kazuyuki Ishihara won the Gold Medal in the Sanctuary Garden Category of the Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society. The flower show, held in London, England, the cradle of gardening, was held May 22 to May 26, 2023. The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the oldest and most prestigious international garden shows, with a history of more than 150 years. The show is organized by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and held every May. Gardens by world-class landscape artists are created exclusively for this event, which attracts horticulture enthusiasts from around the world. The 2023 show was Ishihara’s 15th time participating.
In this context, Mr. Ishihara achieved great accomplishment by winning his 9th consecutive Gold Medal and 12th Gold Medal overall.
To honor Mr. Ishihara’s accomplishment, Valuence Japan will sponsor a charity auction to sell special commemorative items.

Mr. Ishihara’s continued presence in the Chelsea Flower Show brings many smiles to the world through flowers and greenery. His stated desire is to be the bridge between the horticulture of England and Japan. For the Valuence auction, the company will present a number of art objects used in the award-winning work The Biophilic Garden Otsu – Hanare, which expresses the idea of life and living with flowers.
Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund activities to expand horticulture and social contribution activities, including a children’s cafeteria in support of activities to protect flowers, greenery, and the future of our children.

■Profile of Kazuyuki Ishihara

Born in Nagasaki in 1958. At the age of 22, he began studying the Ikenobo School of ikebana, the main school of this Japanese art. Since that time, he has been fascinated by flowers and greenery, beginning by selling fresh flowers on the street, then in stores, and then designing gardens.
In 2004, he participated in the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time, winning the Silver Gilt Medal (runner-up). In the time since, Mr. Ishihara has won 12 Gold Medals, mainly in the medium-sized garden category.
At the 2016 show, he received the President’s Award, the highest award for exhibitors.
He has been called a “green magician” by Queen Elizabeth II, and his representative works in Japan include Flower Paradise (Haneda Airport) and Shibuya Hachiko-mae Park (Shibuya).
